Elfin Forest XC mtb race and “Keeping It Real”
Race report by Angela
Whenever I start feeling a little cocky, life has a way of bringing me back to reality. I have to confess, I’d been sorta pleased with myself after the Balboa Park and Santa Cross races. I’d kicked some arse, my wattage was up, and hot damn, I was feeling en fuego. That should have been the warning that reality was about to strike. The Elfin Forest race course was brutal. It...
Balboa Park mtb race and Santa Cross CX race
race report by Angela
Rhonda and I did a mountain bike race in Balboa Park on December 19 - it was a blast! Who would have guessed that you could put together such a fun course in the middle of San Diego. They used every ounce of single track that they could wring out of the park. It was a short course (only 5 miles) and not a lot of climbing, so we did 4 laps. Glad we didn’t do more -...

Sunday Oct 18th. First Race Tom's Farm Time Trial
Race report by Verna
Doing this race was a very last minute decision. I raced Fiesta Island the previous weekend and got second place. Not bad for having a mechanical and almost missing my start time! I had no idea that there was a So Cal Time Trial Series, but my 2nd place at Fiesta Island gave me 4 points and I was tied for second after two races. When I found this out I decided to do the next...
Play time in San Diego!
Race report by Jamie
It’s the off season and we decided to put our cross training to good use! Faye, Raegan and I put together a relay team for the Women’s Sprint Triathlon inMission Bay. What a fun weekend! We met bright (ok, well dark) and early Sunday morning to get set up in transition. We were the only ones who brought in a trainer and as obvious by the confused look from behind me as I...

End of Season Team/Friend/New Member Ride!
Hey Team IE Bikes…well, another season is nearing an end and what a great, great season it was. Although we are a smaller group we had A LOT of members out racing road bikes, tackling triathlons, and traveling oversees to bike with the best at the TDF. Our jersey and team name made it to many states and left quite the wake! The team philosophy has never been about results, but Team IE...
Sisquoc....hot but HUGE success for Raegan!
Race report by Raegan
The officials decided to cut one of our 3 laps, due to the extreme heat. It was 100 degrees and 115 on the back side. We had a pretty good size field with 23-25 starters. During our second lap, we some good attacks and one girl off the front for half a lap. We brought her back in just before the final climb. Just then Leah from Fog Racing took off. At that point the entire...

IE Bike Girls were 'ON' at Ontario!
Race report by Carole
For several of us, the Ontario ‘Summer End Grand Prix’, was the season finale and IE Bikes’ girls showed up in force. Angela arrived early and had her legs ON as she powered through three races……all before 12N!! Angela & Cindy arrived early enough to race in one of the men’s races for a warm-up. Then, the game was ON for the...
Camp Pendleton Sprint Triathlon
Thanks Rhonda for a great race report! :)
Seems like every race this year I start off tired – but who doesn’t? I drag myself out of bed and head to Camp Pendleton to race the Sprint Triathlon. Little did I know it was going to be a beach start swim – gosh I hate them. Those waves can be pretty brutal sometimes. Of course the set comes in when my wave goes off. It was a pretty challenging 500 meter...
Brentwood GP ... IE Girls' show off speed and...
Jamie, Raegan, and I (Carole) arrived around 5:45a Sunday morning to prepare for our 7am start….first race of the morning at the 2nd Annual Brentwood Grand Prix! This race is truly becoming an EVENT with such an outpouring of community and enthusiasm. This year offered a new course along San Vicente Blvd, with off-camber u-turns on each end, a few bends in between, and a 450 meter curved...
Northern California District Champ RR
Race report by Raegan L
Jamie and I headed up to Northern CA for their district championships at Fort Ord road race . It was a 42 mile race, 10.2 miles per lap with rollers and and one mile-long climb. As we drove in, we noticed a distinct marine layer and strong winds. We were thinking, “what did we get ourselves into?” Or I was thinking that. I am not a fan of strong wind gusts....
Raegan wins Dominguez Hills!
Raegan won her first race at the Dominguez Hills Criterium! Way to go Raegan!
We rolled up to race the crit with a plan in place. Originally we had planned on attacking on the second lap and trying to hold a break until the end. After chasing down a couple attacks we realized it was a pretty strong field and we wouldn’t be able to hold a two lap break. I rolled up next to Raegan (who was...
Pacific Coast Triathlon and San Marcos Crit
Another weekend of racing in the books! Race report courtesy of Jamie Taylor.
I “raced” the Pacific Coast Triathlon last weekend. Racing was really relative this weekend I guess. The surf was so big that they cancelled the swim! That pretty much ended my “race” right there. Before cycling I was a swimmer. So my only hope in a triathlon is to gap the runners on the...

SUPERWEEK 09 IN THE BOOKS!
Race report by Rae M.
On July 15th Chad and I made a trip to Milwaukee, WI for the 41st Superweek Pro Series…17 days of racing around Chicago and Milwaukee areas!! Yes, that is 17 days which I raced 9 of…9 was plenty! As many of you may know, traveling with a bike is a bit of an expensive hassle but we “tried” using United/USA Cycling vouchers and are proud to say they...
Ontario Crit #4
Race report by Jamie
So, this race report really must start the night before when Raegan and I were trying to figure out what time to get there and I said, “well, we’ve got to get there early because I need to get a really good warmup.” Her jaw just about hit the floor as she was trying to work out whether I was joking or not. Let me explain something about me and warming up. I don’t. Or at...
CBR Long Beach!
Race Report from Raegan: I did the Women’s Cat 4 CBR in Long Beach on Sunday. It ended up being a big field of 29 starters. Which is great, more women are racing!I started out attacking off the start line. That set the tone for the race, we had an average speed of 23 mph. Much faster than any Cat 4 race this season. It was fun, I did a couple more of attacks. Then on the final, we hit it at...
Firecracker 50, epic mountain bike race in CO
This 4th of July, our own Geoffrey Eyer raced in the The Firecracker 50. His race report follows: It is in Breckenridge, CO and is 50 mile mtn bike race containing 2 25mile laps with over 5400ft of climbing per lap for a total of over 10,000 ft of climbing for the race all between 10,000-12,000 ft of altitude. I finished in just over 6 hrs. A little slower than I wanted, but since I...
Carlsbad Triathlon
Thanks Jamie for the great race report! “Julie and I had a great time at the Carlsbad Triathlon last Sunday. The course started with an ocean swim, beach entry with light surf. We both fought through a lot of kelp! The bike was fast and mostly flat. I was super stoked to knock over 5 minutes off my bike time from last year on a 15 mile bike course! Julie had a great bike too and was...
Celebrating the 4th of July racing style!
race report by Raegan and Rae…
Saturday the nation celebrated another birthday and before the fireworks started, Raegan, Jamie, and I took on the circuit race up in San Luis Obsipo…we had our own fireworks going off during this grueling 5 lap race! The race started with about 44 women of which only 29 finished and yes, the IE Bikes girls were apart of the finishing 29!!!
The group...

The girls do their thing at San Pedro Criterium!
Race report by Raegan L….
Last Sunday, Carole and I took on San Pedro. As we approach the start line we talked about the ones who may try to get away and the ones who tend to be sketchy. Glad we discussed it. The sketchy one almost took out Caorle. But with Carole’s great bike handling skills, she managed to stay up right. The sketchy girl came across in front of me trying to stay up...
Elkhorn Classic 2009...gonna have to go back next...
Race report by Rae M.
This past week Chad and I traveled 1000 miles to Baker City, Oregon to take on a stage race designed for climbers (ha, not me!) … 4 stages in 3 days. The real fun part of this epic event is the final stage! When most stage races conclude with a crit race that is just enough to put the daggers into the legs, Elkhorn ends with a 102mile road race with 7000ft of...
Jamie takes on Ontario Crit ...finishes well!
A few weekends ago Jamie traveled to Ontario for the crit race that included the Junior State Championships…she was the only racer from IE Bikes to make the trip and still had a great result! Jamie competed in the Cat 4 womens race and finished 3rd, just missing 2nd by inches!!! In Jamie’s words…”Oh well. Next time.” That is right girl, next time!!!
State RR Championships...Day One!
State Champs Road Race!
The team went up to Bakersfield for the road race championships. Raegan and Angela were a little fearful that the temps would be 108 F, after their Kern experience…..but it wasn’t hot at all. In fact, the girls got rained on during Saturday’s Masters race. Who knew you could get SO dirty in an hour and a half! A heartfelt “Thank You!!” to Rae’s husband Chad for...

SUNDAY ELITE CHAMPIONSHIP RACE, WOMEN’S 3/4s
Sunday was a little warmer, but still nice. No rain and everybody had clean bikes! Thanks Chad! The team was Raegan racing for the Cat 4 jersey and Carole, Cindy, and Angela in the Cat 3s. Rae’s adrenalin had worn off and the full extent of injuries were making themselves known. We missed you, but want you to recover! Most of the racers had not...
